Rollo CliffordLike the guidance system of a missile, it is the collective vision of success, emotional commitment, clarity and shared focus in the mind of your group, that is key to working together. That is what typifies any high performance group and its ultimate success .

Several things may get in the way - we are, after all, only human!

For example, lack of shared clarity of thinking, egos, outside interference, emotional intelligence versus emotional incontinence, creative implementation rather than creative avoidance, and many more  unknown unknowns.  Above all, mutual trust and integrity are key.

You’ve either got it, or you haven’t....

Sometimes groups find these things difficult to discuss which is where an experienced, trusted, non-executive friend can bridge gaps, help build team effectiveness and help a venture run successfully.

Over the years I have had the pleasure - and challenge - of working with directors, leaders and the key players of organisations, teams large and small, in a variety of areas, locally and globally, delivering successful outcomes. Fascinating, and always educational!

The Recommended Process

I need to understand your business: the Operating Plan or whatever you call it, your product, manufacturing, delivery, sales and marketing, financials, strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats (SWOT), people, the whole picture.

Most importantly, I need to understand your business!  You need to help me help you. To many groups this could come as an outsider threat, but I expect your group is perfect so that won’t be the case!

Remember, we are, after all, only human......

I think it vital that I only get involved with groups where we mutually agree I can add value. That involves trust and integrity which only works if it’s mutually respected - respect that needs to be earned by both parties....

Once a group has asked me to work with them, I  like to spend an hour or so with each of the directors, managers or key players to hear your version of the group’s aims, objectives and strategies, and what you think your responsibilities are - so that I can consolidate all the versions confidentially and unattributably, of course.
